A woman in her 80s and a man in his 90s have died of COVID-19 amid a spike in hospital patients who require intensive care, the regional public health unit announced Friday.
Eight people have died of the pandemic disease this month. Three of these deaths have occurred at St. Andrew's Terrace long-term care facility in Cambridge.
There were 10 patients with COVID in intensive care units in three local hospitals Monday. That's the most in ICU care in 17 months, matching levels last seen in August 2022.
